Terminology via Elenamary

I am not Chicana, Latina, Hispana, or otherwise (despite being granted honorary status by Cathy Delgado in junior high), but at least I know when to use what. As a Latin Americanist or Mexicanist (read: someone who studies Latin America or Mexico, respectively) and a Texan (in spirit, anyway, since I now live in Mexico while legally residing in Georgia), it bothers me when people incorrectly use Latino, Chicano, etc. I especially don't like it when people refer to Latinos as "Latins" or Chicanos in Texas as "hispanics". Luckily, Elenamary has a nice post to help you sort out the differences.

Thanks, I should make an "honorary" Latino blog list---I'd add you to it.
