Free things are often too good to be true

Yesterday, Cafe Tacuba gave a free concert in the Mexico City zocalo. Brian and I had discussed the possibility of attending, but my laziness got the best of us. In this case, it was a good thing.

Over 170,000 people crowded into the streets surrounding the Zocalo. Nearly 200 people suffered minor injuries, and 8 suffered grave injuries. One was electrocuted, and I have no idea how that happened. Others had something fall on them. And a couple were trampled. Most of the injured received minor first aid on the scence.

I guess that's what happens when a group that was nominated for the greatest number of Latin Grammies last year offers a free concert in their hometown with a population of over 20 million. What were they thinking?
